I have read so many of Dean Koontz’s books that I’ve had to look for some of his older works in order to keep reading material by this great author. What is extraordinary about Koontz is his ability to write about external conflicts between good and evil, and to make it interesting and inspiring. One gets the feeling that Koontz would have made an exceptional and inspiring preacher, should he have chosen that path.

The Eyes of Darkness” was written close to thirty years ago and it is still relevant.

It is a story in which a mother is pitted against a powerful and secret government agency, referred to as the “Network” in the book. This agency may be holding her young son captive. All she knows is that she has been told that he died, along with several other scouts and two adult guides, in the Sierra Mountains of Nevada. She has recurring dreams that indicate that something is not right.

The story becomes action-packed and interesting when the mother decides to exhume her son’s body to make sure he is actually dead and buried. I won’t ruin the storyline, but it is a captivating story which manages to keep your interest and attention. It also imports a moral message–something Koontz always does in his books.

I loved this story and I’m sure you will as well!
